ABOUT GOSSAMER WINGS ™

Designer Barbara Grimes personally trains her artisans in highly advanced methods of beadwork. Her design studio is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, one of the most historic and beautiful places in America.  She acquires her materials all over the world, and has a stunning collection of the best semi-precious, glass, antique, brass, and silver beads and fetishes. These ornaments adorn the best-fit jeans, suedes, leathers and an assortment of accessories that include beaded handbags, belts, and gloves. Over 25 techniques can be incorporated into one garment, and can take from 30 to 100 hours to complete. The effect is remarkably three-dimensional.

Her palette is a blend of the finest leathers and suedes from Italy and Spain, imported specialty furs and shearling skins, rich satin embroideries, shimmering beadwork and hand-painted designs inspired by traditions of ornament around the globe. Barbara Grimes puts it all together in her own unique way that makes each article of clothing a rich, multi-layered artwork in its own right.
